brake controller

I think my brake controller might be bad. I tested all the wires with a light tester and I checked all the brakes to make sure they were adjusted correctly. My problem is with my prodigy when i hit my brakes its always giving me a different number on the screen , is that normal ? seems like im always playing with the adjuster . On the last trip i had the brake controller knobe set all the way to max and the brakes would not lock up. Thanks any help would be great

Check to make sure that the controller is mounted correctly and not angled beyond specification. Depending on how hard a stop the TV is making, IMO there can be some nominal number fluctuation taking place, but the braking condition of the TT should be consistent.

How old, and what model Prodigy is it?

Depending on the controller, proportional controllers will give different numbers based on stopping need. Mine has some sort of inertia sensor and it applies more pressure based on how hard I'm stopping. Just follow the set-up instructions and give it a whirl. Mine took some adjustments to get it just right. Mine also has "boost" feature which allows me to set my trailer brakes stronger or weaker than those of my TV. You may need to dial in some boost.
