Brake lights/Running lights

I just purchased a 2018 355MBQS. I got it home and I noticed that the running light come on when you step on the brakes. Also when you turn on a signal that side running lights, the whole length, top and bottom also flash.

All lights work normal. When you turn on your lights, all the running lights come on and all brake lights work normal.

I called the dealer and they said that is a new safety feature on the Jayco 5th wheels.

It does seem like a neat feature.

Is this normal? I have a distrust of dealers and are they just telling me this so I don’t bring it back for an electrical problem....

My 2018 Eagle 339FLQS behaves the same way. I would say your dealer is telling the truth on this one.

Holy man that seems ridiculous and annoying. Are other manufacturers doing this too?

Braking/running lights

2018 Eagle HT RSTS
Seems I'm having opposite problems. Brake lights work properly. Turn on running lights then brake and running lights off for second or too. This brief moment is constant each time you brake. Again brake lights work properly only side and 1 each top front and rear lights turn off briefly.

So, if I understand correctly, the lights are normally off and come on only with braking or turn signal.
“Running Light” may no longer be the correct term. I think I prefer the old school behavior of my running lights on my old ‘13 model.

No the running lights are on but when the brake is applied the running lights on the trailer go off briefly every time the brakes are applied this happens with a timely consistency before coming back on .

Hi I am new to the forum but my 2018 29.5 BHOK does the same thing when the running lights are on and you let OFF the break or turn OFF a turn signal the light will turn off for a sec. or so and then come back on. I talked to my dealer and he said that is what the new system does. It drives me crazy. I hope that I can get use to it...

Mine does the same thing, plus when I take my foot off the brake pedal the running lights completely shut off for a second or two then come back on.

Dealer told me its normal, I don’t trust it and dislike the system feel it’s unsafe
