Can I use manual awning partially extended?

Would it be ok to use a manual awning partially extended? Thinking roll out, then reverse and roll in to desired length... figure it would be nice to keep a small, ~2', overhang in the rain when the breeze is too much to have it open.

Thoughts? Experiences?

TIA!

*EDIT* Realizing that my upper arms would only allow me to make it about 2/3 extended.... but still... Is that ok to do?

When we had a manual, we commonly would extend it out to its minimum allow distance, determined by the upper arms. Don't think 2 feet will work, but maybe 5 feet.

Added thought, its been to many years since I had a manual awning. If you made a custom set of fixed length upper brackets, that could slip in along side the unused factor bracket mounts, you should be able to support the awning at 2 feet.

Thank you... I like the way you're thinking with short custom standoffs... 🤔
