Ceiling lights issue

I'm owner of a new Jayco 1207. This weekend was our second outing. Upon arrival to campsight this weekend, as we were setting up, we noticed the two ceiling lights both burned out. In addition, neither of the fan/lights that connect to ceiling jacks work either. I've checked the fuse, but that's fine. Also, the light bulbs for both ceiling lights are burned out black.

Any ideas what could have caused this? Seems like a wiring issue to me. I'm scheduled to bring this into the dealer we bought it from. I assume this should be covered under warranty (we've owner the camper less than a month).

It almost sounds like you had a power surge but that should have blown the fuse.
Did you check the fuse with a continuity tester? some times these new fuses are blown when they don't look like it.
If it's a wiring problem I would think it should be covered by warranty.

We did try a new fuse, but that didn't do anything. What could have caused a power surge?

Sounds like a couple bad ceiling fixtures that were drawing too many amps do to high resistance. (corrosion, loose connection,etc)

The only other thing I would check is the limit switch under you kitchen sink (assuming a pop up)

I had a switch there go bad. The spring was actually just weak, so I was able to just put a plastic shim over it to press it down further.

I've seen these ceiling light fixtures blackened before. They're not real high quality and the bulbs run hot too.

I would check the safety switch, it is actually located along the edge of the roof(unless Jayco changed something). It is designed to kill the power to the ceiling lights when the roof is closed, ours got "stuck" a couple times. It should be on the off door side, just ahead of the rear lifter post, make sure it is down and you can hear it click when pushed up.
