How can a non-inverter generator damage an HD TV?

I have a Champion RV ready generator and have not experienced any problems.

Some generators are not capable of running electronics. The power they put out is not clean enough. I have a 3000 watt Coleman with a Subaru motor that I used for our house construction. It would run the lights, power tools and heaters but you could not run a battery charger for the cordless tools or cell phone. Reason that I found was there was nothing to clean up the power being put out by the generator. It had power spikes and brown outs that are hard on the electronics that require more clean power. It might be something to look into before buying a cheaper generator. Ryan

Received my Champion 3500/4000 weekender yesterday; put the wheel kit on, put oil in her, fuel...first pull...SHE STARTED. Nice. A little louder than the Honda/Yamaha ilk, but not bad at all really. Quieter than your typical 250cc (think honda rebel) motorcycle at idle.

I'm thinking of getting the Champian 3500/4000. Has any one run their A/C off it ? I own a 20BH with the colman A/C. Need to know if it will work before I purchase the genny

I have the 3500/4000 Champion and used it during the power outage after the storm on June 29th. I have the 15K A/C and it did fine running that unit. BUT I ran the fridge/water heater on propane. You have a shade less than 30 AMPS continuous (3500W/120V=29.17 AMPS) but I did use the microwave occasionally with the A/C on and it did Ok. I also used a Progressive Industries surge protector on it since the power is not pristine like an inverter model is supposed to be but I still have fully functional appliances so I seemed to not have had any issues on that front. You do need to remember that this thing is not as quiet as the Honda/Yamaha units but for the cost and only used in emergency I think it is a good unit for that purpose. I would not recommend you try it in a normal campground setting.

That is exactly what I wanted to hear, Thank you rbrumfield. I am headed to a very isolated area the first week in Aug. so sound won't be an issue. I'm going to try one. For the price I cant go too wrong.
Hey rbrumfield ! Can/Will you give me the model # of your surge protector?

I have two of the Champion 2000 inverter generaters with a parallel kit. They work fine for keeping the battery in the trailer topped up and running any appliance I have used in the trailer. I also use mine to run an external battery charger that I use to keep my electric boat motor batteries topped up. Hooked in parallel I have found that they will run our air conditioner at sea level, but where we live at 4500 ' above sea level they will only run the air conditioner if the temperature dial is set 1/2 way to cold, if I turn up the dial they die. They are very quiet and start usually first or second pull even after being stored all winter.

I have a Champion 2000 watt inverter. I love it. I put it on eco mode and it is very quiet. Last tank of gas, which is 1 gallon, lasted 12.5 hours. I bought it at costco for 529.99 Canadian, which included shipping.

I also have and use two Champion 2000 watt gennys, really like them and they do everything I need EXCEPT run my A/C. So I will buy the larger genny and have and use it too!
I also just ordered my surge protector, I think I'm set for a great week of camping with A/C

I have the Champion 3500/4000 watt generator and it powers my 15,000 AC just fine. Granted it's not as quiet as the Honda's but it's also quieter than some people's **** dogs barking all weekend long even during (QUIET) hours.

I had a Champion 2000 gen but it would totally dog down at 7000 feet. Last year they didn't offer a jet kit for the carb so I got rid of it and got the Honda 2K. It works perfect at elevation with the high altitude jet they offer. I'd go with Honda if your going to be up high for a 2000 gen.
