Coleman 9430-3382 T-Stat

So, after 3 years owning my Northpoint, I still don't know how to use my thermostat. How do I set my thermostat to automatically kick on the furnace when the temperature drops to freezing. The AC unit in the living room is a heat pump which doesn't work real well below 40 degrees. What setting do I select so the furnace comes on automatically. I usually set it to cool/low or cool/high and leave it.

Here's the manual for that t-stat. You probably already have it, but I needed to read a bit from it. It seems to adjust the set points from a sequence using the 'mode', and up or down arrows. I was reading under the "operation" section.

We have an older non-Northoint but we have 2 thermo’s for the 2 AC units. The rear thermo mounted next to the steps to the BR controls the furnace as well as the rear AC.
It has a switch for Heat/Cool, a switch for fan speed and the up/down buttons for temperature selection. You need LP and 12V for the furnace and if leaving it unattended for a few days you’ll need shore power to keep the battery charged. IMHO the furnace is also the largest consumer of LP so you’ll need to keep an eye on the LP supply.
Make sure the furnace will work before you leave it. Switch the thermo to “Heat” and set the temp higher than the ambient temp. Fan should start followed by LP ignition in the furnace and warm air should start blowing out the furnace registers.
