Exclamation Cracks in sidewalls

We bought our 2015 Pinnacle 38FLSA in November 2014. A few months later we noticed a crack extending from the lower right corner of the Dorr side slide. Jayco was great and assigned an engineer to address the issue. The shop worked with the engineer to Welsh new structural frame elements and then replace the sidewall that had to be cut out to affect the repair. While fixing that Crack the technician noted another Crack in the lower left corner of the slide opposite the door. Again Jayco stepped up and the cracks are now both repaired. The frame additions were extensive and expensive.($14000) total). The repair shop, Bob Jones RV in Houston, TX. was great. They painted the unit as needed to match the original full-body paint and the repairs are all but invisible. Since these cracks both occurred at a high stress point on each front slide it seems that the original design wasn't beefy enough but I believe the engineer and Bob Jones made it right. I suggest all 5th wheel owners check their slide rooms for these kinds of issues. We sure do now.

Factory did mine last summer. I had a two-fer right from the start. If you look at the newer units the overhang is shorter.

I hope all is well with yours now. Mine seems fine. Did the shop show you what they were doing along the way? Mine did and I took some pics of the frame work. Much more robust than I thought.

No pics since the factory worked on it, they just said reinforcing would be added. If you look at other brands they pre-cut the filon and put a piece of trim on it vertically.
