Difference in surge guard models

TRC lists their previous model as discontinued with the new model having more surge protection. When you read the tech specs, they are the same. Does anyone know if there is a difference?

New model will shut power off for open ground and overheating plug. That was the only difference I see.

I think you're correct.
Also, by adding this feature, they are trying to match the competition, which is Progressive Industries.

I'm also searching for a 50 amp portable surge protector. It seems the Progressive Industury model covered more than the Surge Guard. See attached which gives a good comparison of the different surge protection models on the market.

Also Progressive Industries has a lifetime warranty.

I've owned 2 from Progressive, 30A pole-mount and 50A installed. During install I called the 800 support line on a Sun afternoon and left a message on v-mail. Got a call back in ant 2 hr. I'm a fan.

I believe there are some newer models now out that don't show on this comparison.
