"Digital Hybrid" Inverter Generator

I have been looking at inverter generators for my parents and came across a Champion generator that seems relatively new, the Champion 3500W Digital Hybrid Generator,

3500W Digital Hybrid - Champion Power Equipment

It seems to be an inverter generator without an enclosure and at a very good price-point. The issue is that I cannot confirm that it actually has an inverter, even though it does not run at one fixed RPM, as traditional generators do.

Does anyone have experience with this type of generator? Is it just a traditional inverter generator without the plastic housing?

I've had good luck calling Champion to get info. Also, if you operate above 2500' they will send you different jets for free. Here is there number and web site. 877-338-0999.

I called them but unfortunately different jets are not available for the inverter generators.

Not the same generator, but my 3100 watt Champion inverter generator ran fine camping at ~7,000' with original jets. We used it daily to charge the trailer batteries, but didn't try (didn't need) to run the air co at 7,000'.

Must be a different set up cuz my little 2000 watt inverter genny wouldn't even start at those elevations. Their advice was to drill 4 or 5 1/4" holes in the air filter cover and try a hotter spark plug.

According to their tech support it is an inverter generator without the enclosure. This allows it to have a relatively high power output. I am going to buy one for my parents, will post with my impressions.

I believe that the old method of generating power was a 110VAC generator, the new hybrid inverter generator eliminated the 110VAC generator and now use a DC generator it then uses an inverter to convert the DC voltage to 110VAC. By doing it this way they cut down on the RPM's needed for max output... quieter running at full power
