DirecTV and SD changes update

I won't regurgitate the info but suffice it to say that if this is accurate, it looks like DirecTV is actually going to make things better, not worse.

But as soon.as you accept "new equipment" based on their fine print you are in a new 1-2 yr contract.

You can always verify with them that no new commitment is forth coming but from what I am reading, since this is a forced change, DirecTV has been offering equipment upgrades to those with older "SD only" receivers at no charge and with no new commitment.

Those that have active older receivers on their accounts should have already been notified by mail. Otherwise, many have just called in to have their receivers swapped out for mpeg4 compatible ones, usually an H24 for non SWM dish users and H25's for SWM compatible dishes.

That's what I was told too. It was a lie.....When we took the equipment out of the RV and moved it to the duplex THEY made the upgrade at quote "No changes since the account was 10 yrs old". Just cost me over $200 to cancel since they couldn't supply internet which they said they could too.

Update: Just got off the phone with DTV... "ANYTIME" there is an equipment upgrade it extends/adds a 12-24 month agreement.

Switch to DISH

Welcome to the AT&T (Direct TV) family!

They didn't care when they had a monopoly on landlines and still don't care in the new Millenium!
