DIY slide motor change

Has anyone done their own slide motor change? I have an 07 Jayco Designer 36RLTS, with a bad curbside slide motor. (A reputable repair company diagnosed) I don't want to pay their labor prices to do something I can probably do. I have repaired home appliances for a living for over 30 yrs. I can get pics, but I believe this to be a 3X3 geared 12VDC motor that runs two toothed rams. I would appreciate any thoughts on this subject. Thanks in advance for all you help as usual. david

I've not had to replace a slide motor, but it sounds like you certainly have the basic skill set to do it. The slide mechanism on my trailer is by Dexter - maybe it is on your's too? If so, here's some information that may help you: Dexter Slide Info.

I have changed 3 on a previous rig. If you can take the old one off, you can re-install the new one.

And then be assured that all the bolts and connections are tight.

I know many who carry a spare on board.
