Right On RichCarter!!! A friend of mine let me borrow his 2K Honda generator. It’s very quiet at a low load. But at near its top power, like running a 1500 watt electric griddle, it’s just as noisy as an open frame unit. Another friend made a $100 Craigslist purchase of a Harbor Freight Predator 3200 watt open frame generator. (For those familiar with HF 212cc engines, this one is a “hemi”). For an open frame, that thing is amazingly quiet, much quieter than my open frame 4000/3500 Champion. I didn’t have access to a db meter during the test, but the 8 people that listened to both said they were about equal. I agreed with that. I would have immediately bought a HF generator just like it, but it won’t work in a RV application because the way it’s wired it’s 2 1600 watt generators. There is no way to get more than that out of either leg. My Champion will let you pull the full 3500 watts from the single RV plug or the 30 amp twist lock plug. The way to get the quietest sounds from a generator is to either run a bigger inverter generator at a low load so it doesn’t throttle up much or combine 2 smaller units with a parallel kit to acheave the same result.Jay
