Do trailers convert the battery from 24v to 12v?

A bit lost on this and I'm not around my trailer to tinker with it. But I have my battery from our previous trailer here with me and it says 24v on it.... I'm trying to hook up 12v LED strip lights right off the battery and it's not working.

Do the trailers convert it inside the trailer? Or am I missing something?

Never heard of a 24 volt battery in a vehicle/RV. People will put 2 12volts together to get the 24 volts if they want a 24 volt battery system. When you test the voltage of the battery what do you get?

24v

I have never seen a TT that uses a 24 volt battery. Are you sure that is not the size of the case and the battery is charged? If you hooked up 12 volt LEDs to a 24 volt battery they are more than likely trash.

RV's using 12 volt for operating systems (commercial trucks might run of 24 Volts) so do not hookup 24 volt to your 29 FBS. It might blow the fuses or do damage to the converter.

Deka Marine? That would be a model number if that is the case, 12V.

I have never seen one in a RV. Maybe at some time they used 24v as a std but not lately and I have had tt's older than that. The converter converts the 120vac into 12vdc and also charges the 12v battery and also provides 12vdc to power lights and appliances.

What is the battery voltage when you test it?

Looks like a group 24 battery. Should be 12vdc. I would verify with a volt meter.

Fyi that battery has been sitting for about 6 years, I threw the trickle charger on it yesterday until today and I'm only getting 7v.

The battery in our 29fbs is only 2 years old.

My plan is just to run the 12v leds right off the battery and underneath the trailer.

That battery is a Group 24 Deep cycle battery, which is a 12 volt battery. That number you see "DC24" stands for Deep Cycle, Group 24 (which is the SIZE of the battery, NOT the voltage.

You can get a new DC24 battery at Walmart for like $75.

The battery is from our old trailer, 6ish years old I just threw it in the garage and forgot about it, we have a lake lot so didn't need it.

But our new trailer has a 2 year old battery that's been hooked up to shore power since new. I'm gonna keep it in this time and then run our exterior LEDs off of it.

Even RV's with two 12v batteries are are still only 12v output because they are wired parallel.

It is a DEKA Deep Cycle, Size 24, 12 Volt Battery

Lead acid batteries all produce 2 Volts per cell and yours has 6 cells=12 Volts.
Each cap covers 3 of the 6 cells.
After six years the plates are very likely sulfated beyond recovery.
As others have stated it is probably time for a new battery.

Hope this helps.
