Double Holer Battery Box
I mentioned in another thread that I was getting a new battery box for my new 6 volt batteries. I got it today and it wasn't as perfect as I had hoped. The box fits perfect in the provided space on the tongue but is a little too tall to fit under the front of the trailer. The solution was to trim the top of the box about 5/8s of an inch. Luckily, the box is about an inch taller than the golf cart batteries so there was some wiggle room.
Let it be known that it's a good thing I am not a surgeon. It may have been better to make the cuts with something other than a Dremel.

If it works, great. You can always sand it down to smooth it out. If want it real smooth, use wet sandpaper. Where did you get the box?

I got that same box to fit my pair of GC-2 6V batteries.
Fortunately, I have enough room on my tongue to fit the box without have to cut it down any.
By the way, how do you have the two batteries wired together?

Wired to provide 12 volts from the two 6 volt batteries. In series, I believe its called.

Then the wire going from battery to battery is connected to the negative post of the 1st battery and to the positive post of the 2nd battery. And looking at the wiring, you just haven't hooked the negative post on the 2nd battery to the ground side of the trailer yet?

To gain space I put a wood spacer below the edge on the trailer side. The small lean of the batteries was no problem.

Correct, the thick red wire connects positive of one battery to negative of the other. The white wire is the ground and is connected to the remaining negative terminal. The positive wires are also connected to the remaining positive terminal. It can be seen in the photo under the white ground where the wires enter the battery box.

Battery Box Follow Up
I have been putting off checking the batteries until today. The original post in this thread was an evaluation of this double holer battery box. I got an added surprise today.
As many of you know when dealing with batteries that the corrosion on the battery posts at the cable connections are usually full of white powder and crap. I was prepared today to clean the battery posts after winterizing. I was surprised to find there was no corrosion what so ever!

Just upgraded to this box
I did not need to trim the box, but it is a tight fit. I can take the lid fully off, but it does slide back nicely for servicing. It took a couple re-do's of the battery switch placement. As for trimming, which I did on my attempts to place the switch I just use a good box cutter blade. Take your time for safety but it does leave a clean trim-able edge.

Here is a picture of the room I have on my 23RB. Also note, on my trailer the negative wire is black, and not white. Jayco should be consistent.
