That, my friend, appears to be the result of what us known as a high resistance connection or HRC. In simple terms, the wire was never securely attached at the terminal (look at the picture you provided, that screw where the fire appears is the only one that isn't screwed down to attach the wires). It got hot when conducting electricity, hot enough to melt the wire insulation and any other plastic component in close proximity to the heat. If you saw it in action, some actually glow red when passing current (I've seen a HRC measure the heat anywhere from 800° to 1,500°F).

Current creates heat. Heat creates resistance. Resistance creates heat. Heat creates resistance... You get the idea.

When the wire is not securely attached to the terminal, the demand for electricity passing through the terminal connection is the same but through a much smaller surface area rather than the entire surface of the screw compressing onto the wire. Hence, the high resistance connection. That's my take on it but others may chime in and find there was a recall or some other fault here.

Make sure you have a correctly wired power pedestal

I would take it back for warranty repair ASAP. Looks like poor wiring from the factory.
The wiring at the terminal block should not have that much exposed wiring and as 36fire412 stated, the lugs on the terminal block were probably loose.

When I installed my EMS, I found shoddy wiring at the distribution panel. I don't like how much exposed Jayco left and I trimmed several wires back and found a few loose lugs on all the 120V terminals as well as a few 12V terminals.

That's your neutral bus in your 120v section of your converter. It is a serious problem and needs to be dealt with ASAP. The bus needs to be replaced and the burned wires need to be cut back to where the copper and insulation is fresh. Take this advice, I've been an electrician for 35 years.

Send a message via Skype™ to ALJO
Agree with Vicr, this should be replaced under warranty.

Burned panel

Looks like the problem I had exactly on my 2018 Greyhawk 29 MV. While in Fort wilderness all of my neutrals burned completely off. I tried to get it repaired to save my vacation, but no luck. It was too badly damaged. It failed due to wires not connected properly at the factory. We were both lucky. The electrician who fixed it under warranty was surprised the whole panel didn't catch fire. They had to replace the entire electrical panel and rewire a significant amount of conductor due to the burned neutrals. It took weeks to get the part from the manufacturer. Jayco does not stock them for warranty repairs. After it's "Fixed" check and tighten all the connection yourself to be sure it doesn't happen again. Good Luck

Appears almost all the neutrals are burnt.. Could be something besides just loose connections. Does anything electric still operate?

Send a picture to service@jayco.com with your VIN with a little note on how you found this problem and have them forward to the their Quality Control group. They can go over the issue with the employees that handle the electrical work as a picture is worth a thousand words.

Your incident will also be on record with Jayco should anything go wrong.

Yep same problem with my 2018 greyhawk 30xb jayco recommended taking to camping world 100 days later I picked up rv, they said they replaced converter and burnt wiring. Then second time I took rv out it burnt up again? It's still in the shop waiting for parts? From jayco. And now my warranty is out. I don't think jayco or camping world have a clue!

Second time it burnt up I was just about asleep when I smelled the wires burning up so I quickly turned off all power and had my wife come about 3 hours away and pick up rv and take back to camping world. And I stayed in hotel for a week, since I was working out of town.

That this occurred twice is unbelievable. I had the very same problem. it took over a month to fix. Jayco knows this is a problem. This is extremely dangerous and potentially fatal. There is huge liability for Jayco here.

This problem has nothing to do with the PED. It was caused by the installer.

This Thread is very disturbing AND informative. As a result today I turned off my power and took off the cover of mine and checked all of the power connections. It was a relief not to find one loose connection, both in power and ground terminals. There was, however, a ton of debris such as pieces of wire, sawdust, other junk. I cleaned out everything, including the very dusty cooling fan.

Mine is located right by the only door, so if there was a fire the door would probably unusable. Thanks for posting the photos...it gave me something else to do on a Saturday morning.
