Fresh water tank pump

After 4 years of listening to my water pump "burp" or "charge" every five minutes (or less), and reading all the Forum questions/responses on the subject, I've finally decided to replace my water pump. Current pump is a Shurflo Revolution E4008-101. I'm looking at replacing it with either the same unit, or with a Lippert Components Flow Max 689052. The Lippert is about $5 more that the Shurflo at Amazon, and reviews are virtually identical. For those of you who have replaced your pump, what are your opinions on each pump? Does one yield better pressure/volume than the other? Is one quieter than the other? Does one last longer than the other?

THANKS! Your responses are appreciated!

I have not replaced a pump.

The cycling is concerning, that means there is a leak somewhere in the system. It may or may not be the pump. If it is the pump, the diaphragm (p# 94-800-01) could be the issue. However, if you have a small leak anywhere in the pressurized side of the system, the pump will cycle as the system looses pressure. I have experienced this many times.

Have you verified the issue is with the pump? You can remove it, bench test it, and buy a rebuild kit if needed. The diaphragm for that pump on Amazon is $18.

I believe this link is the manual for your existing pump. The parts list is on page 3.

First of all be sure there are flexible hoses at each end of the pump. Next get the Surflo-tank, your pump will run less. (There are other makes too but the fittings will remain the same). I had my Surflo-pump for 15 years and just replaced it last year. Maintain it and oil the motor bearings by taking the pump apart.

I have the same pump that I have replaced twice in 10+ years full time. I was thinking of replacing the pump parts on the last one I took off since the motor seems to be fine, but for the difference in price to a new one I'm thinking of not rebuilding it and just buying a new spare for when.....
