Yep, bought it in 2012, and have used it ever since. I bought it off of Ebay, from someone who made them.

I need to replace it or replace the fans.

You are talking about the fans inside the fridge, right? Never hears of installing one in the freezer, fridge only. We have 2 in our 4 door fridge that clip to the cooling fins. I ran a wire down the drain tube to a 12v source on the back of the fridge. Like Jag, I found them on eBay.

I’ve seen both, one that blows up the cooling fans from the outside and the ones inside

I wired a 12v computer fan inside the fridge to circulate air, it’s on a switch so I can turn it on and off when not in use. I also installed one in the chimney to help move air out but it burnt out. I need to do some more research for beefier fans.

That is a good point, there are two different types of refrigerator fans. One inside the frig, and one in the access chimney area.

I installed one that is hardwired inside the frig. The fan had a long light gauge wire that I ran down the condensate drain, and connected to a 12V positive source. The fan uses a clip that connects to a Fin inside the frig for a ground.

It works great!

As for the other type of fan, I have never felt the need for one. My understanding the frigs that are in slide outs benefit most from the added chimney fan.

So my question would be; what are you trying to accomplish? Or what issues are you experiencing?

I’ve found the one inside the fridge definitely made a difference in keeping an even cool. Also cut down tremendously on the frost that used to try to build up on the cooling fins.

Yes! It helps move the air around, without it the fridge relies on convection cooling.

The fans (2) behind my fridge died and it would barely get cool when the weather was hot. Diagnosed the problem while on a trip. We got through the rest of our trip by putting a small room fan in the lower vent pointed up. Worked great. Ordered new fans when we got home.

I've done a few mods to our Dometic DM2852 refrigerator -

  • ARP Fridge Defenser system w/ dual fans
  • Three interior fans
  • Door heater disable switch
  • Thermistor zip tie mod
  • Bluetooth interior temperature/humidity sensor

i have the little 3 cubic foot refrigerator. It has no drain or light so I have no easy way to get 12 volts into it.

Has anyone run a wire into the inside without hitting anything vital? Could you post a picture or exact location. Mine does not cool well even with the little battery fan, I need 12 volts for a computer fan to really mix the air. It does cool well, just not evenly. I like the remote temperature so I can keep track of it without opening it and looking at a little digital temp gauge. Where did you get it please?

As far as wiring, I did pull 12vdc +/- to the terminal block on the back of our Norcold 3 cu.ft. refrigerator that was in our old Hummingbird and also pulled wire from outside to the inside at the top of the fridge, but never through the casing to the interior.

I've tried several different options with wireless displays that mount outside the refrigerator, but accuracy is always in question.

This one is guaranteed within 0.5 degrees F.
