Furious DV 1200

So our 2016 Whitehawk has a pretty decent stereo DVD combo. We don’t use the DVD a great deal but sometimes it’s nice to watch a movie. We lost our credit card size remote and when I inserted a DVD and tried to play it w/o the remote it started to play and then crazy green mosaic and then nothing. Just picked up a replacement remote and sadly find the DVD player won’t load a disc. It just whrrrs. Anyone have any experience fixing the player or am I looking at a replacement? If a replacement should I be looking to upgrade?
