For the best power output and to give you maximum life of the unit, make sure you use lead free gas. Also change the oil at 5 hours, then use synthetic 30W.

Just did first camp out with Champion 3500 model 100262.Its heavy gotta figure out how to move it around.Try and remember its watts rating are based at sea level. We are at 1050 does start are 15000 BTU AC.Will add a soft start kit to the AC soon. We camp at 7000' most of the summer.Have to say the remote start is really trick. It actually works from inside the camper! Thanks

I am worried about the elevation as well. I do most of my camping at 10,000 feet. My AC is a 13.5 but I may need to change the starting capacitor.

We are purchasing a soft start made by MICRO-AIR easy start 364.Regular price 299. If you type in AIRSTREAM there is a nice discount.I have read claims of a 75% reduction in start up amps. I sure don't need another generator! Thanks

I did this to my AC unit and was able to start and run it with a Champion 2000w inverter. I have since upgraded my generator to the Yamaha EU3000iSEB. That genny was well worth the pricey investment but will last a lifetime

Right on! Couple things - can you afford the reduction in tongue weight when you have that stuff strapped to your rack?

Also do you have any extra bumper reinforcement? If not you are gambling on two basic welds and very thin bumper metal to keep that stuff from falling off.

I'm planning on doing the same thing you are for carrying my genny, but I have addressed the above concerns first. Just trying to look out for ya and hopefully prevent a bad day.

I hit send to fast. They say the struts increase your bumper load by 400 lbs. I will carry my genny (110 lbs) and an extra 5 gallon fuel can.
