Generator Adapter for a Generac

I am waiting on the delivery of our new Eagle Premier 361REQS and would like to be able to run it off a generator when I have power outages at the house. I have a Generac GP6500 with a L14-30R 4 prong plug. The plug states that it is a 120/240V, but not sure what kind of adapter that I will need to make sure that I don't push 240V thru the coach. Can anyone advise of what to use or have any experience with this issue?

You need to make you a pigtail to convert to a 30a RV plug. My Honda 6500 has a switch for 120 to 240v service. You will only be connecting to 3 poles of the L14-30R 4 pronged plug.

Your 50 amp service for your Pinnacle will utilize the neutral and both hots from the generator line 220 does, unless you have 30 amp which uses only one hot.

Now that I'm on the computer and not my phone I can be a little more clear. If your Premiere has 50 AMP service, it is essentially a 220V camper but there aren't any breakers which run across both hot inputs. 50A RV service is 2 120V hot leads with a neutral and is the same as in your home. Each hot (labeled line 1 and line 2 in the diagram) is 50A, and feeds the circuit breaker panel exactly the same as how your home is powered. Hooking up the generator would be straight forward using both hot leads from the generator:


And the RV plug:



So using the pictures above it would be wired:
Neurtal (white) to N
Line 1 (black) to L1
Line 2 (black) to L2
Safety Ground (Green) to G

and for 30A

Neurtal (white) to N
Line 1 (black) to H
Line 2 (black) NOT USED
Safety Ground (Green) to G

Be sure to use at least 10 AWG which will be protected by the 30A breaker on the generator.

After talking to a local RV dealer/parts supplier, they suggested this adapter. Does this look correct?
