Seann, I am with you on the TP issue. If it dissolves in a jar it is good enough for my tank. If it says septic system safe it is good too. No sand paper for me.

I believe we use Scott`s. No 60 grit for me. Although one time in the woods......

The regular Kirkland brand dissolves very well no need for the RV sandpaper TP and NO they dont make an RV specific TP

I want to get a slide valve that I can put on at the point where the hose attaches. With the extra valve I can open both tanks to equalize them if I am in a place that requires the Blue Boy Tote. It would also eleminate any surprise when I take off the cover. I hate that surprise.

It's used to empty your black/grey tank into then cart away to dump when you aren't at a site with full hookups

All of the comments that I have read have been great ! Thank you !! The question I have is.. If we camp at a campground that does not have a "dumping station" how and where do we empty our tanks? Also..if we use a "tote" and there is no dumping station , how do we transport the full tote?

The blue boys are for if you dont have a dump station at your site.. and have to move your trailer to dump..
A campground that has no dump station at all?????  :lightning:

I would never fill the tote if I didn't have a place to dump it. 30 gal of water is heavy.

Most important tip: Start your trip by flushing/pouring 2 gallons of water down the toilet. If you don't do this, the blank tank WILL develop "poop pyramids." If the plumbing enters the black tank from the side, those piles can build up over time and eventually cause the toilet to become plugged after just a handful of uses. Trust me...I learned the hard way. Luckily, every time it happened I was at a full-hookup site and was able to borrow a wand to snake the drain.

Oh...here's another good one that I learned from an old-timer. When you empty the tanks at the end of your trip, of course you should dump black first. But here's the tip: Leave the black gate open, lift a section of the sewer hose above the bottom of the black tank and then open grey for 5-10 seconds. This will cause a large volume of grey to backflush the black tank. Close grey, then lower the hose and complete the dump.
Just make sure you're using a high quality sewer hose and all the fittings are securely clamped in place. Loose lips sink...er...ewww...

Yeah, but would you really want black tank nasties getting in your grey tank, which is plumbed directly to your kitchen sink? With only an inch or two of trap water separating them?
I don't think I'd go that route myself. The black and grey tanks are separated for a reason, otherwise, it'd all go in one tank, wouldn't it?

A black water flush is the best. I've watched people use the wands and I did not want to do that. The flushes make easy work out of keeping your black water tank clean. I have a clear 30 degree sewage hose adapter attached to my camper to make sure when flushing the water coming out of tank is clear, I leave it attached all the time. Just make sure if you use one keep your valve open during use because back pressure will build up and damage your flush. I learned that one the hard way,TWICE, with a TORNADO flush I had installed in my previous camper. Blew the flush out of the tank and blew the hose off the tank also.

This weekend was our first trip with the new TT. As I mentioned earlier in these posts my husband put me in charge of emptying the black and grey water. I did really well, even when it started pouring rain and I was without any raingear! It was easy because everyone here explained it very well. Thanks for all the postings to help a newbie out.

We also had our first trip this last weekend and with all your help everything went off without a hitch as well. When I dumped the black tank then I filled it half full by holding the toilet open but I think I will pick up one of those adapters to do it all from outside. It rained all weekend for us as well.

 Don said that after all those years of me happily (at least that's what he thought...) changing poopy diapers as well as changing the poopy diapers of our grandkids when they were/are here, that he has no problem doing the black tank set-up and breakdown.
