Grey Water Dump Valve Leak?

Every time I open the cover of the dump connection, it's full of grey water. At least it's not black! I'm wondering if this is common, if I'm missing something in closing the valve, or if the valve is most likely just faulty?

Could be a faulty valve, or worn gaskets(seals) on closing device. I always try to back flush each time I dump. I also have a brush on a long rod and clean from time to time. Still get a little water at times, and I HOPE its gray.

Your lucky its grey.

Short story - I have been having problems with my black tank valve leaking ever since I bought my trailer. The last trip we were out (18 days), the black tank valve leaked so much that it filled up the 4ft long grey tank hose (the one that heads over to the grey tank valve on my trailer) and made it so heavy that it was riding on my axles. That wore a hole in the 4ft long pipe and guess what started leaking from there.
I have already had the valve rebuild and replaced and still have the same problem. I think I finally figured out the problem - the black tank line where it makes a 90 degree turn and the grey tank connects (near the outlet cap), is touching the rear axle spring hanger. I believe it is making the whole setup vibrate and making the black tank valve open as I drive down the road. It will open the valve without anything behind it (tank empty).
It's been in the shop for some other stuff and this problem, so I hope they figured out what the problem is. I am so glad I still have a warranty that covers all of this stuff.

This product may solve the problem.

Valterra makes very good valves and not all trailer manufacturers use them on their holding tanks.

Well, it turns out that this also happens when you have the second grey water tank valve open. It was hidden behind the stairs and I forgot about it… That won't happen again!

Open and close the valve 7-8 times in a row... this MIGHT clean out the track it runs in and stop your problem.. trying only costs time so you have nothing to loose..

Had you posted year and model or had that information in a signature line someone with the same model might have suggested about a second valve.

Anyway thanks for the update and information It may help others in the future as most RV's only have one gray tank to worry about. But more and more now have double tanks.
