HVAC techs

I've had a problem with the 15K AC for some time with this MH but really never bothered to really take a close look at it until now. It short cycles on the order of 15 seconds of compressor run time and 15 seconds off. After the overload resets, the compressor won't start because the pressure hasn't had time to bleed off. It takes an overload trip and reset or two for the compressor to start running again. It will do this several times until it finally decides to keep running. Another to this problem is that if I run the heat pump for a minute before I switch over to AC, it won't short cycle. However that's a pain because I have to run the heat pump and switch over to AC which then goes on the 3 minute timer of the thermostat.

I'm probably going to hire a local HVAC company to take a look at it, but I was just curious of probable cause. I'm also thinking easier and cheaper to fix than replace.

You might want to look into the ceiling grill. If the blind-plate is installed on the wrong side it will short cycle.

It quits short cycling after a few cycles. I would think if the blind-plate were improperly installed it would not quit the short cycling.

If it's a Mach 8 it's probably the reversing valve. Coleman was having issues for a while.

Just looked up the model # and apparently it's a Mach 15. Reversing valve problem sounds like a good candidate for failure though.

If it sticks it builds up excessive head pressure on the comp and shuts it down. In your case it maybe moving a little every time it starts until it properly seats.
