I need a TV audio solution.

I have a 2016 Precept 31UL. The TV is a Furrion that pops up next to the dinette. The audio is terrible and only comes from the TV itself. I would have expected it to come from the overhead speakers which seem to only work with the Jensen JRV215N in-dash navigation unit.

Because the TV moves up and down and is flush when it's stowed, I don't think I can attach any wires to the TV for external speakers.

Has anyone run into this situation and what was your solution?

I got so fed up with my Furrions poor picture quality and the speakers poor sound that I ditched it. I replaced the TV with a nicer “smart” version and started using a nice sound bar. These things are so cheap and easy to use it’s a no brainer if you spend any time at all watching shows in the camper.

You may be surprised at how much of the back of the TV you can reach.
I was able to add several connections by pushing down on the slide a bit to work my arm into it.

Take a second look.

I'm in a completely different unit but had all kind of audio/video connections simply wrong.

I was able to install my Firestick and Apple TV and get the connections done by trying different heights on the sliding unit. It is work and helps to have another person.

I would prefer, and will probably get a different TV in the future, but for right now I have to work with what I have.

The issue is the TV goes up and down, so any wires I connect may get caught in the mechanism.

My soundbar has a Bluetooth connection. I use it all the time to play my ITunes from the phone or tablet through it. Surely these nicer TVs have a Bluetooth sound option? I’ve not looked into it but it might be an option so no wires are needed.

Yes... Mine does too. Not hard to route the cables appropriately.

The Furrion does not have BlueTooth capability. I'm looking for a solution to what I have. I cannot afford a brand new TV right now.

I would recommend a nice soundbar. You can get some wire loom and wrap the cable for the soundbar with the TV's power cable. The power cable comes up with the TV, so it shouldn't be a problem. Our soundbar came with mounts to mount on the wall so it doesn't have to take up counter space. Ours has multiple inputs, including Bluetooth so it can be used with multiple devices like Screwby mentioned, not just the TV. You can get a decent soundbar for less than $100.

Look at the routing for the TV power and cable cables. Route new cables the same way. Out TV speakers are buzzing and the stereo speakers are not any better. Looking for a sound bar but at a pretty low priority.

Is the Jensen in-dash head unit your DVD player? Mine is a Pioneer head unit that is also our DVD player as well. For 6 months we watched TV with sound from the TV and movies with sound from the ceiling speakers. I stumble across a setting in the head unit, I think it is the AV setting, and now sound comes through the speakers in the ceiling. Nothing covers this in the owners manual and it wasn't mentioned in our walk through. I hope this is the case for you as well.

My "pop-up" TV came prewired to my RV sound system. it was all pretty bad.. so after the rear wires got caught in the pop up system and ruined the TV I went with a better TV and added a sound bar.. much happier now. Rather than screw holes in the RV for the sound bar I placed it on the counter held down with "museum putty" the sound bar has not moved in 5 years..
