Is it just me.....

I can't for the life of me figure out how these "clamps" work? Can anybody help? It's probably something really simple but I'm not seeing it.
Thank you!!

I have tried that, I can't get it to budge, do I need big pliers to do that?

I think you need to loosen the set screw first.

It appears you should twist the knob clockwise.

I have a few of those, and I thought so too, but you can't twist them. I really tried hard to use them, bit I tossed them in a spares box and use hose clamps instead.

Wow, if I didn't learn something new today! Can't believe I couldn't figure those things out. Now I know how to use 'em. Good question.

I’ve never seen those before, but when I do see one I hopefully will remember how they work.

I bought one of these kits eons ago. That's where those clamps came from.
