Jalousy window crank

We have a broken crank on the jalousy window in the rear of our 341RLQS- It was broken by a recliner which moved while on the road- I have drilled out the rivets holding the crank in place but I can't get the rod which coordinates the opening and closing of the window out of the way to remove the broken crank and install the new- If anyone has knowledge of how to do this repair, PLEASE post!!! THANX in advance for all input- DD
