Jayco Option: 12V Furrion Refrigerator

A couple of new 2021 Eagle and Jay Feather TT 's have been showing up on dealer lots with the new Furrion Arctic 12V Compressor style refrigerator...., which appears to be a new Jayco 'option'.

Furrion's version of this style of 12V refrigerator is relatively new (Fall 2019), I believe Everchill also came out with a 12V fridge last year as well.

I'm really surprised someone didn't do it sooner. We have a NORCOLD compressor chest Fridge or Freezer that we bought in 1979 12v/120v and it's still running strong. Many of the high end Motorhomes have them in the basements as standard equipment.

They have been around for decades just on a smaller scale.

Thanks Bob.

The 2021 Jay Feather 25RB TT has the Furrion 12V only 8 cu. ft. refrigerator as an option. I’m thinking about this refrigerator instead of the standard 6 cu. ft. Dometic gas/electric refrigerator. I have a Renogy 200W portable solar suitcase and two 6V golf cart batteries from my former TT. I may also need a backup generator for several dry camping days to run this refrigerator. Hookups will run it just fine.

Anyone have the Furrion 12V only refrigerator in either 8 or 10 cu. ft.?

Your comments/likes/dislikes appreciated.

Ordered in my new trailer, but won’t get it here til late November.

According to a couple videos I’ve watched, they are supposed to do great. Following to see what others says.

Congratulations on your ordered Jay Feather 24BH. Please Post back how much warm air flows out from the bottom of the refrigerator's vent cover. Should be helpful during the winter months but maybe not so helpful in the summer. Maybe no air flows out.

I'm still on the fence whether I'll order the Furrion 12V only option. Need more feedback.

A good video comparing the pros and cons of a gas/electric RV absorption refrigerator and a 12V RV compressor refrigerator:

Good video, and that’s something I hadn’t noticed... no vents on the side of the camper. That’s actually a plus. Less chance for water intrusion.

Boondocking With a Furrion Arctic 12V Refrigerator

Has anyone boondocked for more than a couple days with the Furrion Arctic 12V only refrigerator?

If yes, what batteries, solar, generator setup are you using?

After giving Jayco's 12V only Furrion refrigerator option much thought and discussing it with our Jayco dealer, we decided to stay with the standard Dometic gas/electric refrigerator when we buy our new Jayco TT.

Gas/electric is our choice, especially when we can run the refrigerator on propane over several boondocking days.

Why put all your eggs in one 12V basket?

2021 Jayfeather with 12v Furrion refrigerator

First time posting. We recently took delivery of our 2021 Jayfeather with the Furrion 8 cu ft 12v fridge. We don't boondock so the 12v-only is not an issue for us. We have only had a chance to use it twice before the end of our camping season, and not in hot weather, but so far it seems to work well. It does have a very loud high pitched fan noise when running - like a high RPM computer cooling fan - that I find annoying, and the LED light in the fridge compartment stays on all the time unless the doors are closed, even when it's turned off. Other than that, it seems OK.
