Light Question

This may seem dumb (I feel dumb for asking), but how do I open the this light to change/swap out the bulb? (see picture).

I saw some posts that describe squeezing the sides and sliding. That doesn't seem to work.

Everything that I tried, I seem more likely to rip them off the ceiling than open them.

Any thoughts? (sorry for the fuzzy pic)

Not a dumb question. Unfortunately I don't have an answer. However, that looks like an LED light fixture. You may or may not be able to replace the bulb. Someone else here may have taken the cover off of theirs. If you cannot replace the bulb, you can probably get a new fixture under warranty, when you can get the cover off.

Also, noticed you are in Bedford, we are in Kalamazoo.

Yea, I thought that they are LED...that's why I was trying to open one up (and to get the construction dust out!)

Yep, in Bedford near the Ohio border. Have you been to Higgens lake? We are new to RV/camping and are looking for sites in Michigan. I heard the South campsite at Higgens is nice.

The easiest way is to use a small screwdriver or knife blade on the long edge and pry it down. These LED bulbs are NOT replaceable. If one burns out, the entire fixture must be replaced. The entire assembly runs about $20.

When I was looking at a new RV at my home dealership I asked him how that came off so I could see the LED's. He could not figure it out either..

Thank you for the information, John. I have had mine off just to see how to do it. Although the bulb can't be replaced, I have to take the cover off once in a while because I gets small bugs in mine.

Do you know if they are hard wired? Or if they have connections, are the replacements compatible with the type Jayco uses?

To the OP: They are snap-on, but they are tight. I know what you mean when you say you thought you would rip it off the ceiling. Easy does it.

Curious is to why they did that. Seems it would be rather costly down the road.

The lights I have worked on are just scotch locked onto the main wire. Kinda hard wired I guess. The replacements are the same ones Jayco uses in the trailers now. I can get part numbers for the large and small tomorrow if you need them.
