LT235/85R16 w/ MOR/ryde 3000
Can anyone confirm that this combo works? (i.e. has sufficient spacing between tires)
MOR/ryde CRE 3000 + LT235/85R16
My camper is on order still and I can't find an answer searching. Would like to get some things ordered in the mean time.
Thanks!
Jared

What brand and load rating are they?
That is exactly what I have on my rig. They are LR G Goodyear G614's.

The Maxxis 8008 is a ST235/80/16 offered on the Jayco units. An 85 should be a little narrower but may be a little taller. I would stick with the standard sizes myself.

Per Good Year's specs, their Marathon ST235/80-R16E has an outside diameter of 30.7". Their G614 LT235/85R16 has exactly the same outside diameter of 30.7".
I too have the same setup on my Designer than you are asking about.
You just have to make sure your wheels are rated for the G rated tire max pressure of 110 psi vs 80 psi for the E rated.

When I went from E Marathons to G rated the difference in height was less than 1/2 inch.

Thanks guys! I'm looking closely at the Cooper HT3. E rated. Trailer has GVWR of 9,750.

This may well be true but from an engineering standpoint, it should not. If a tire has a different aspect ratio, then it should not have the same dimensions.

Here is what I have always understood
235 is the nominal tire width in milimeters (235mm/25.4 mm per inch=9.25" wide)
80 is the dimension from tread to wheel (9.25 in x 80% =7.41")
Total tire diameter = 7.41" x 2 + 16 (wheel diameter) = 30.8"
235/85/16 would be same nominal width, but a little bit taller = 31.725"
If you have an extra inch to spare between your tires, you should be good to go. I don't have a camper to measure yet, but I did go from 15" wheels to 16" with LT tires on our soon to be old fifth wheel. Never had a flat after I switched to LT tires, best thing I ever did to the trailer!

Thanks for the good confirmation, guys.
I found a pretty good deal on the Cooper HT3's and ordered them.

Got the tires installed today. No issues and plenty of clearance all around.

Go read their specs. I just checked again and they are the same as the last time I looked.
