Main Propane Line
I have had my main propane line chewed through by squirrels before a trip. No replacment line available so I bought some fittings from local hardware, cut out the bad section and fixed the hose. This is working fine until I get another hose which could take some time to get. Was wondering if anyone had similar problems and what their solution was. I attached a photo of my repair. When the new hose arrives I am going to install it myself but first I'm going to feed it through some flexable aluminum electical conduit so the squirrels can go bite somewhere else.

Just install a steel 1/2" main line and branch off. Squirrels love those hoses even at the tanks. The stainless steel braided hoses might help to......but $$$$$$

I agree with ALJO, Ditch the hoses altogether. I ran 1/2” gas line under and ran a T to add exterior connections in the front on my camper for grill quick connects and shower. Just make sure you use gas rated tape or sealant on the threads.

Squirrels love propane hoses. Luckily I have not had an issue yet. My sister always has squirrels chewing on hers.
Be careful with that setup. Bouncing down the road could loosen the pipe clamps, allowing for a dangerous propane leak.

That's a good idea. Looks like they sell gas line at home depot. Just need to figure out the ends

My rig has 1/2" black iron pipe going from the tank to the service location and then transitioning to a copper or in some cases flexible supply hose to the appliance.

around the 1/2 copper you can put some automotive flex tubing for protection they use it also for wiring (comes in different sizes), to avoid from rocks hitting the copper line.
Be sure to us the black pipe.

The dang critters got mine too. The hose manufacture would not sell direct. Took too long to ship a new from Jayco to dealer.
I had a local hydraulic shop make me one. They keep LPG rated hose in stock for a local gas plant. It was double the cost but it a thicker hose with cloth braid around it.
I wrapped the new hose with the silver foil tape that is used for air conditioning work. My dealer recommended this and found others online that have done the same.
I am still worried about all the other hoses after the LP manifold, the hydraulic hoses, wiring etc. Now I just put Repels-All under the RV about once a month, haven't had an issue since. You can buy Repels-All from Lowes.

It is generally not a good idea to mix brass and steel fittings in any plumbing work.

Doesn't know where you got your education from, but this practice was already way before I was born. Brass and steel go very well together.

Actually it's copper and galvanized fittings that cause issues. While discussing it, you should use the yellow gas Teflon tape rather than the white tape. And it should be black pipe fittings rather than galvanized. I would of just used a brass barbed connector and eliminate tape and the galvanized fittings.
Happy Camping...
