My Furnace fix

Hi! My 1st post

What a great forum this is! And I only discovered it because of my furnace problem. Like so many, mine too started cutting out. I think we've only used it a half dozen times in 3 years on a chilly morning here in the Southwest.

How can you troubleshoot the dang thing when you can't see the error code the LED is showing!?

Simple. I put both the reset sw. and the LED on long wire extensions and remounted them where I could see the LED and if necessary do a hard reset.

Back in, mine showed 1 flash every 3 seconds = limit switch/airflow problem, a "Soft Lockout". (one of the 4 faults displayed by the LED per the manual)

I pulled it back out a removed the sail switch. Now unlike the pictures which show a bend in the sail, to capture more air, mine was a straight blade. So, I put a slight bend in the blade to get more air resistance. Voila! Problem solved
Hope this helps others.

Did you take any pictures or how you made the connections and wiring? Love a step by step on this as I have no idea where the board, light or switch is. No failure yet but better to Be Prepared.
thanks!

Welcome to JOF and thanks for the contribution! Is your furnace under the sofa? What rig do you have?

No Sorry no other pics. The hardest part was figuring our how to get the heater out. But after several times, that got easier too.

You just need to follow the polarity for the LED. If you don't you wont hurt it but neither will it light. The wires of the small audio cable I used fit right into the LED PCB holes. Just a little solder job.

For the switch, I used an old power cord that I spliced into the existing wires to extend them. That way I didn't have to mess with the lug connectors on the back of the switch. Use shrink sleeve or equivalent to shield your connections.

My only regret is not making the extensions longer to give me more options on LED&Switch placement,

Good luck.
