new batteries

I just upgraded my batteries from two 12V group 24 deep cycle marine (because one was dry and the other was 7 yrs old) to two 6v golf cart batteries. I bought them at NAPA, as they are the supplier for the local golf course. these are no-name brands, but just like more expensive Interstate batteries, my new ones are also made my Johnson Controls.

I have a 4 day Boondock trip coming up, I will see how they do. Now off to Amazon to buy new battery boxes. These suckers are 2 inches taller than grp 24 and HEAVY.

You'll enjoy them! I love my set up and they are Johnson Controls from Costco.

I had a custom battery tray welded to hold four. Cost me $20. Using standard battery boxes. How long they last all depends on how you use them. Four days is no big deal for just lights and water pump.

Solar isn't on my planned mod list. most of the campgrounds we visit here in the Pacific Northwest are not conducive to solar.

all lights have been replaced by LEDs, so the only real draw when camping will be the water pump.
