New here - battery question

Hi I am new here but already appreciate what a great resource this is!
We bought a used Kiwi 21c in January and we have been really enjoying it. We have had some minor repairs and we are trying to do as much as we can ourselves! I was going to replace the battery and found a green wire with an inline fuse on the positive terminal that is NOT connected to anything! And the white wire connected to Negative! I’m not sure what I should do to correct this?
I attached a pic here

Welcome to the site from SW Michigan!

If the positive cable wasn't hooked to anything, then nothing using 12v would work when not plugged into shore power. Wonder if it rusted apart nearby. Look for connections to see where it came apart at and reconnect after cleaning the cable ends of rust/corrosion. If it's been a long time, the battery might be dead. Depending on it's age and condition, it may or may not accept a charge. Deep cycle batteries sure don't respond well to being drained all the way down and not charged back up right away.

Thanks! Well I need a new battery for sure but when I saw that connection... so otherwise that green goes to positive and white to negative?

Most likely. Weird, right!? The online fuse would be on the positive side.

Before connecting the new battery I would find out if the trailer has a negative ground or positive ground. I have no idea if any RV uses a positive ground but I would find out before connecting anything.

Unfortunately it is pretty common for people to just grab whatever color wiring they happen to have when doing wiring which of course is a bad thing to do. For the record below is recommended DC wiring colors.

US recommended DC power circuit wiring color codes
https://www.allaboutcircuits.com/tex...g-color-codes/

2-wire grounded DC Power System
Positive (of a negative grounded) circuit L+ red
Negative (of a negative grounded) circuit N white
Positive (of a positive grounded) circuit N white
Negative (of a positive grounded) circuit L- black
