New member new to campers- 2nd owner tech questions

Hey all new member here. Actually new to campers all together really. My wife and I just received an older (mid 90's) Jayco Jay Series 1206 as a partial trade on a 5th wheel trailer that had been my mom's that I never used. We figured shoot with the holiday weekend coming we might as well take it out and try it up at our family mining claim. We are very excited about trying this little camper out. It needs some work but I think most of it I should be able to handle myself really.

My biggest headache right now is I don't seem to get power to the interior overhead lights or the pump for the sink. Have it plugged into AC and the fridge and the power outlets are working but not the sink or over heads. Found the forum actually trying to find a solution so I have some digging to do I suppose. If anyone has any suggestions please shoot them my way!

Anyway even if we can't get those two things working we are very excited about trying our new trailer out. We are getting some stuff packed up in the trailer so it is ready to roll as soon as we can leave. It will be nice having a little trailer that even my wifes little Tacoma can pull so we don't need to take my half ton Ram all the time.

Welcome to the JOF rebelgtb! Glad you get to try out camping but sorry to hear the used pop-up is really in used-condition. I'm moving this to tech talk so hopefully more members can see it and offer suggestions to the tech questions. Happy camping

Have you checked your 12V converter?
Sounds like your 120V is working but not the 12V

Doug - did you ever repair that converter? (whoops - I just jacked the thread )

Check your 12V fuses. They should be in the panel with the power inverter.

No I haven't repaired the old converter.
I should get it out and see about getting a capacitor at Radio Shack or something.

IIRC...Behind the sink there should be power cable that needs to be connected up to the ceiling to make the overheads lights and fans operate. If the sink is not correctly raised / assembled some pop-ups have a safety switch in the sink base that cuts off the pump and lights to avoid a fire or plumbing mishap. Just some thoughts....

Good catch,
I forgot this was a popup.
That safety switch is usually the culprit.

On my Coleman, it was a rocker looking switch that got pressed when sink went down in place.

12V fuses is another possibility as stated.

Let us know what you find.
