No Power from Good Batteries
Hi,
I have owned a 264 Swift BH for the past two years with minimal problems. It is my first trailer.
Problem I am having is that I getting no power from my two 6v batteries. Off power from the house, it's all good. I wired them the same way as last year. I plugged them onto a charger and it was in the green range, so I am assuming they are still good. I'm not sure how many volts they are putting out.
I had problems last year with the batteries being topped up off the truck while towing.
I don't know a whole lot about batteries if you couldnt tell. We are going out this weekend for the first time this year and planning to dry camp. Any help would be great!
Should I be looking for a bad fuse, etc. None of the breakers were tripped inside the trailer if this means anything...

First, breakers will not be the problem. Those are only for 120V circuits. All 12V wiring is protected by fuses. There should be 3 fuses involved in getting power from the batteries to the distribution center. Two in the converter (a main fuse and a reverse polarity fuse) and an in-line fuse near the battery itself.
It may seem silly to ask but how are your 6V batteries connected? Series or parallel? If they are in parallel it won't work. 6V batteries should be connected in series. On one battery the negative lead will go to the frame. The positive terminal connects to the other battery negative terminal. The second battery positive terminal should go to the in-line fuse.
Next, you need a voltmeter to confirm your batteries are, in fact, charged.

Thanks a lot. Turned out to be an in line fuse off the battery. Hard to see that it was no good.

If you have not done so, tape a few spares near those remote fuses. They never blow when it is convenient.

I have shore power hooked up and replaced two old batteries on 2005 Jayco Designer and when 12v cut off is on everything works inside but when off nothing works but batteries recharge. If I leave on 12v and shore power batteries start to drain?? I can take a battery charger run from shore power and hook to batteries and then I can run everything and batteries don't drain!! PLEASE help going away this weekend and need to fix.

Are you savvy enough to check fuses and converter output? If not you need a rv repair person.

Ok, I think since I have been unable to locate the converter it may be the fuses on the back so I guess I will run by rv shop before I go. They are willing to show me where it is but so far I have not been able to find it. They tell me normally where the shore power comes in but no place in the back for it so not sure but thanks for the input. I am new to rving but I want to be able to do repairs and to date most I have been able to do. If you no where it is I will be more than glad to give it a check, again thank you.

Good luck and hoping it does not mess up your camping trip.
