No Shore Power

We have a 38REFS 5er we were camping in this week. All set up and left for sight seeing. Upon our return, we found there was no power to the trailer except for the 12v. Power at the pole seemed ok. Checked the breakers and fuses in the box but still no power. Since we were close to home, we left and returned home not wanting to be camping without some help on a weekend.I was wondering if there is a hidden fuse behind a panel that protects the circuit from an overload/ power spike from the camp power? Or maybe a switch blown on the convertor? Our unit has a lp/elect. fridge. I don't think we have an inverter. I'll be calling the dealer for some service advise but know how that can be sometimes. Thanks for any input.

A useful thing to carry in your toolbox is a non-contact voltage detector.
Usually no bigger then a pen, it will light up or beep if you hold it near a cable or fitting that is live.

In this case, it would let you start at the pole and work your way back to the point where things stop being live any more...

Even if the problem does need dealer attention, it helps to be able to tell them where to look

I hope you get it resolved.

(And, the usual disclaimer... If you are not entirely confident, messing with 110V... then don't!)

If a trailer circuit breaker trips (shuts off), then you must push it further towards the off position (against spring tension) to reset it and then turn it back on. This has 'tripped up' other RVers, too.

Since you are concerned about the campground power, you should have a surge protector. Campground power can have issues. During the summer, low voltage is frequently a problem. Worst case, low voltage and lightening strikes can fry your trailer's electrical system and things plugged into it.

You don't have to be an electrician to learn how to verify where a problem is located. Most troubleshooting of lost power can be learned with a few simple tools and a even simpler knowledge of what and where the components are located.

Some safety advise to keep you from danger and a little hands on training may have saved you a lost weekend.

Please post when you determine the problem as it will help us all learn.
