Norcold N811 Refrig

Thought I would post a problem I've been having with my 9 month old Norcold N811 refrigerator just not cooling like it should.

I've always had Dometics before and am used to turning them down a notch at night to prevent freezing in the refrig compartment.

I've never had to worry about this Norcold getting that cold! But lately it's been struggling to even hold 40 degrees after the door has been closed all night.

I won't waste your time listing all things I checked, because the last thing I checked was the problem. Guess I should've checked it first - the door wasn't sealing correctly.

Actually, it wasn't so much the seals as the door needed to be shimmed up about a 1/4". It must have come this way from Norcold. The door was hung so low, a plastic corner brace in the lower right corner was preventing the seal from sealing.

A dollar bill pulled out like nothing. Then I realized I could easily push a dollar bill right through to the inside!

Now it easily holds 35 degrees on a 85 degree day on a 4 setting.

I have heard RVers complain about their Norcold not getting cold enough, but our N821 does a good job on propane or A/C. If I run it colder than 7, it will put a layer of ice atop my ice tea pitcher.

Good to know!

What did you use to shim it? Was it the bottom, top or both doors.

We usually run ours on 2 or 3 depending on the outside temp.

I put 4 nylon/plastic washers on the refrig door's bottom hinge stud, which raised the door about 1/4". Now it clears the flat corner L brace that the seal was catching on.
