On the fence about a Champion 3100w Inverter generator? Read!!

Hello all
So I was in the hunt for one of these, initially without the remote start, I then changed my mind after finding the model WITH remote start (75537i) on Overstock.com for $889. I looked around and the best price elsewhere for this model was $980 shipped.

Heres how to get an even better deal....

Go to retailmenot.com and search for overstock.com
click on the 12% off promo and "get the deal". It will say no coupon code needed and redirect you to the side and you will see the 12% off automatically load.

The generator's item number on their site is 16563118.

Add to cart and you will get this 3100w Inverter gen WITH remote start for only $783.18 shipped! This is a great deal with FREE shipping on a package over 100lbs via UPS. This promo code should also work on the model without the remote start for a considerable savings over the competition. Not sure how long it will last but I hope this helps a few fellow Jayco owners get a highly rated quiet inverter-generator and brag about saving a ton over the red and blue guys..

Happy to help,
Steve

I have had one for 18 months (the non-remote start one) and am very happy with it, starts right up every time, and it's a manageable weight. Puts out enough juice to run my 13K A/C plus all the lights.

It's not as quiet as the red brand, but pretty darn close.

As usual I'm about a day late and a dollar short. Dang! I watched prices and pulled the trigger for the 75537i at $890 (no tax & free shipping) from Wayfair.com.

Until your post, I didn't know about retailmenot.com.

Oh, well. I'm with my purchase, but no longer

This is the non remote start, we bought one last fall and I love it. The way I look at it is that it should not be started under load and unless you can remotely have your plug go into the generator then why pay for the extra of remote start.

That is a good deal, best price there for the non RS model ( I am digging the all black too).

Most of our camping will be with hookups but in case of failure or boondocking at some of the mudding events, I was thinking have it set secured in the back of the pickup in the camper topper ( with the slide windows open and a fan of course) and we can start it up at will breakers off then switch on from inside during crappy weather or to keep from venturing out in the middle of the night if we didnt have to.

This will be my first inverter gen, only negative I see is the runtime seems short (6 hours- small tank) with an AC running all night? Maybe someone can confirm.

I have seen the extended run kit, but for probably $50 in parts it seems kind of pricey at $250 + tank. I am trying to watch the install video part by part and piece together my own, I will be sure to post up what I find

They advertise 6-8 hrs at 25% load. I can vouch for getting 6 hrs out of a tank no problem, just not sure you'll get 8 hrs with the AC running. The 1.6 gallon tank only goes so far.

I keep tossing the idea around about buying one of these since the manufacturer states it will start and run a 15K air conditioner.

Then I think about buying two of the smaller ones to get 4k.

Then I try to decide if I really need it at all since I try to always find full hookups.

Most report it will run a 15k AC unless you are in a high elevation ( a free carb jet kit is avail if needed for that) . There is always an option to add a "hard start capacitor" to your AC, making it a much easier task for the generator.

I also looked at the parallel option and almost went that route. I just chalked it up as another extra engine to maintain.

The 3100 should run almost everything, some say both the microwave and AC at the same time even, however, I will stick to shutting down the AC compressor when needing to use the microwave, no biggie

update- now back up to $989... still $870 shipped with discount so not a bad deal. Keep an eye on it though , they seem to lower the price every few days and you can get it for another 90-100 off again if you are quick.

Mine just showed up yesterday, they delivered in 1 day to Indiana, now to come up with my own extended run kit, will report back.

F
From the owners manual

Power Panel Load Management
When the generator initially starts by the Remote, no
voltage is supplied to the Power Panel for approximately
15 seconds. This allows the engine to reach full speed
before electrical loads are applied to the generator.
