Open Both Front E450 Doors With a Single Push on Remote

I always hated having to push the remote unlock button twice to get the passenger door to unlock via the remote keyless fob. Oh, so much extra effort. It only took me 5 years to look into how to reprogram it to unlock both doors with a single push of the unlock button.

Finally reprogrammed it to my lazy liking. My finger will now get the rest it deserves and be available for other duties.

To program the doors to either unlock one at a time or both together:

1. Unlock the doors (I tried programming while locked but it didn't work).

2. On the keyless remote, hold down both the lock and unlock buttons at the same time for 4 seconds. Nothing appeared to happen but it did toggle the unlock option since both doors now unlock with a single push.

3. Go camping and relax after exerting this much effort.

I tried searching the forum to see if this info was previously posted but didn't find anything.

That unlock system is set up in most vehicles as a safety for those entering vehicles in dark parking lots, or for women entering vehicles alone. If the system unlocks both doors an attacker can get into the vehicle from the passenger door when the "victim" is entering from the driver's side.

Most vehicles allow reprogramming to open all doors at the same time if you want to do that but I have left all our vehicles with the two click method for the safety it allows.

I'm putting that on my list of things to do today. I'm willing to do the "extra effort" to gain the convenience.

Also, I consider CAG's post to be valid in all other situations, but for the campgrounds we stay at I'm going with 1 click.

I changed mine to a single click this morning. I checked the 2022 E-450 manual before doing so and the instructions are in there. ... same process to return to double click.

It's such a simple and quick operation (don't even have to go in the cab) there's no problem switching back and forth as you fell necessary.
