Oxygenics Body Spa

We installed an Oxygenics Body Spa (link) shower head and I can report after a three week trip that it is wonderful. Also installed at the same time was this shower head cut off valve (link).

I did a test before leaving on the trip, and found that our old Camco shower head used 1.3 gallons per minute and the Oxygenics used 1.1 gallons per minute - both were operated with fully open valves using our on board fresh water pump.

The Oxygenics head is so much more powerful and capable of rinsing than any shower head I've ever used in a trailer. It comes with a cut off valve - which really just reduces the flow to a dribble. The valve we installed is a full cut off valve, and also for any position from full on to off. I found that the Oxygenics is fully effective when rinsing when the valve is only about half open.

In short, the Oxygenics Body Spa shower head works better, and uses less water. No, I don't have any stock in the company, but I wish I did!

I am not all that "handy". How are these to install? We have a new x20e. Thanks.

Its funny I just saw this post after having just ordered the same showerhead, except in brushed nickle. I hope we will like it as much as you do.

If your trailer already has a shower, it is super easy to install a different shower head. We re-used the existing shower hose because it was in good shape. The old shower head will probably unscrew by hand, then just screw on the new shower head. A shut off valve (if used) would go in between the shower hose and the shower head

One of my early Mods and very glad we made the change. Never tested the flow but there was a great difference in the pressure and capability to shower faster.

As RV said you can un-screw the old by hand and add the new one without any tools (& quickly)

The reason to use the shut off that leaves a dribble of water flowing is to avoid the blast of very hot water that can happen with the total shut off. Be careful to not point the shower head at yourself when you turn it back on.

I just did the same replacement and I found I have a constant stream of water from where the showerhead connects to it's hose......
I took it apart and it looks like it has all the right rubber grommets, but it doesn't seem to seat tight
any thoughts?

I would think it's got a minute crack in the Head. Had a similar issue with shower head at home. Could not stop the leak until I closely examined it and found a hair-line crack

Yup, what he said. I think the newer models have the built in shut-off ( a button). Ours didn't and I got one at Lowes or Home D. Very few folks that buy the oxygenic don't like em.

I have this shower head and even with the shut offs slow dribble it's very hot water when turned back on. (step aside when turning back on) Love the shower spray but wish the temp was more consistent.

Unscrew the old head screw in the new one very easy.. I think they even come with Teflon tape to wrap around the threads.

"body spa" great way to get more money from it... I bought one when they still called it a shower head.. and am still very happy with it..

I think the blast of hot water is due to thermal siphoning. The hot water migrates into the cold supply. The dribble eliminates this problem for me. Maybe you need more dribble.

I think I recall a tread that mentioned cross siphon with a valve open in the outside shower or winterizing valves - not sure I'll check those as the streams pretty steady when shut off and nearly steam when turned back on.

Here's a link to a thread discussing installing a check valve in the cold water line to solve the blast of hot water LINK

Thanks RVhiker that should solve that problem. Nice not to have to reinvent wheels, when someone else has been there done that.

I did this Oxygenics mod with the inline shut-off from HD about 4 years ago and I've moved it from one trailer to the next. Each time, I just put the old one back. This is one of the best things you can do to conserve water and ease the grey tank from filling too quickly and you'll still get a better shower than the stock head.
