PD52 Automatic Transfer Switch

This past weekend while we had our 2018 Eagle HT 28.5RLTS at the house, I noticed a humming sound while plugged into shore power. I've never noticed it before and so I did some digging until I found the source. It's our PD52 Automatic Transfer switch.

After some googling it appears that the hum may or may not be normal and there are lots of opinions on how to resolve. My question is different.

I was reading through the Installation and Operation guide and I've noticed that the switch was not mounted in the proper orientation. It is mounted vertically on the wall instead of horizontally. In the manual it states:

"NOTE: DO NOT MOUNT THE UNIT VERTICALLY AS SHOWN I FIGURE 3 AND 4. DOING SO WILL SHORTEN THE SERVICE LIFE OF THE UNIT."

My unit is mounted as shown in figure 3. Anyone else have this? Anyone else concerned?

I'd contact JAYCO with the picture and the info from the manual.

The contactors hum due to not being latched. So humming vis normal. Chattering is not.

It should be mounted per the manufacturer recommendations.

Which one?
There's quite a lot going on in that small space.

The one with the valve and fittings. Pex is a great piping system but those are potential leak points and the ATS is not going to like water in it.

The buzz was really getting annoying. Took a small piece of rubber weather stripping and shoved it in the center. Then added the stripping to the lid and under the unit. Totally did the trick. At least for now
