Phantom loads

As some of you know we have had our travel trailer for a month now. In preparation to install solar, as we will be mostly boon docking, I will be looking for phantom (or parasitic) draws that I can remove making it easier to keep our batteries topped up.

Yes, there are some that you have no choice i.e. propane, co2 alarms and etc. but I would really like to heard about the ones that have you scratching your head in wonder. Two clocks in the kitchen anyone?

There are a few things that draw a little bit of power, even if they're 'turned off'.

Radio/entertainment unit, if it has a remote control
TV antenna amplifier (can be turned off)
Furnace (maybe has a circuit board)
Hot water heater (maybe has a circuit board)
Fan-Tastic Vent has a control board which has a small LED lamp on it.
The refrigerator may have a 'divider heater' between the freezer and fridge sections.

Led’s on everything continues to baffle me. I buy a lot of product from Powerwerx and I would love to get some 12vdc usb plugs that don’t have the blasted lights. One isn’t too bad but when you start adding them up...

To check for parasitic loads with the trailer power off take an amp meter and pull one fuse at a time and use the meter to check for current between the "hot" side of the fuse holder and the "load" side. Keep a paper and pen handy to chart which fuses to pull when you dry camp. Do not however pull any fuses for life/safety devices.
