Plumbing issues help!!!

First time poster here,we just picked up a new to us 2016 Jayco 293RKDS 5th that is in new condition and am trying to figure out this water system. We are not new to rv's having owned 3 previous 5th wheels but this one being the newest. I figured with the color coded level decal illustrations it would be a piece of cake,BOY AM I WRONG!! tried hooking up to our garden hose in the driveway and i can get the cold water faucets to operate but no water is going to the water heater tank, the drain is out and no water is filling it,so i turn off both hot and cold faucets but still hear water flowing, odd so i crawl into the basement and remove the access panel at the back of the service panel and notice a few very small leaks drips mostly, but still hear water running from the city water connection, run into the camper and the damn toilet is overflowing!! the city water is filling the black water tank! How can this happen??
More fun to come, i started filling the fresh water holding tank to try and use the pump, but the same thing is happening the pump runs continueously and it to is filling the black water tank, and still no water filling the hot water tank.
if anyone can help me out i will greatly appreciate it. first i thought there was a bypass system but the pump is laying right there in plain sight behind the hot water tank.

I think you might be connected to the black water flush instead of the fresh water fill. I would try switching connections..

not possible, the black is clearly marked and the cap and connector are colored Black, i cannot understand why no water is making it to the hot water tank unless most of it is filling the black tank.

nothing there Grumpy, was checking out another forum and this is a fairly common problem and the toilet valve was the culprit letting fresh water fill the black water tank, and i guess if most of the city water is filling the black tank not much can be flowing to fill the hot water tank, but not a drop is coming out of the drain port/anode plug

Although on other rigs this might be the case, I wouldn't say 'impossible.'

My 2022 Jayco has clearly marked 'CITY WATER' & 'FRESH WATER' inlets, but that black flush? Nope. It has a tag above it with a paragraph of writing (waring of keeping flush valve open during use) but nothing that states "BLACK TANK FLUSH' MY first dump station stop I was walking all around the camper looking for the black flush inlet. I know how t use the flush, so never really familiarized myself where it was. To my surprise, it was not clearly marked.

It doesn't help either that the fresh fill is on the fun side of the camper and the other 2 inlets are located literally, right next to one another on the opposite, poop-side.

We've been comparing floorplans and starting the new TT search. I noticed this on a TT and thought how odd. What has been your experience filling? It seems like pulling in "backwards" is almost necessary.

going to disconnect the toilet and try turning on city water hose to see if it is indeed the toilet valve stuck open dumping water straight into the black tank, as i could here water flowing with everything off while on city water which shouldn't' happen, still doesn't explain why i can't get any water from the hot side or anything flowing into the hot water tank.this is our 3rd 5th and am not a rookie but i sure feel like one right now. The plus to all this is my black tank is nice and clean, good thing as i flooded the bathroom when the tank overflowed and came over the toilet bowl.

UPDATE: I capped off the toilet to eliminate the toilet valve as a potential issue, but the water from city port is flowing directly into the black water tank!!

For the heck of it i switched the garden hose from the [WHITE] city water fill to the [BLACK] tank flush and i know have water filling my hot water tank! keeping the levers on the city water pictogram, WTH is going on? i thought the lines got switched somehow on the back of the service panel but that isn't possible as they are all tightly connected with fittings.

It would seem to me that the black tank flush connection and the potable water in connection are mislabeled. This could have occurred by a mistake in repairing a leak or possibly was mislabeled all along. ~CA

Here is a pic of the lever position that gives me water in both hot&cold faucets while connected to city water.

At least with the Red lever turned to the left I am no longer filling my black water tank in both pics, but for the life of me I cannot fill the hot water tank, the only time I had water coming out of the drain on the tank was when I secured the city water hose to the tank flush!!!!

You have a Nautilus P1 control panel. If you go to B and B Molders website (bandbmolders.com) you'll find instructions for what lever needs to point where. As long as someone hasn't jacked with the lines behind it anyway...

You should have access to your water heater by opening/removing the door on the side of your camper. Inside, there is a pressure relief value at the top. It's spring-loaded so you may need to hold it to let off the pressure. When you are connected to water, open this valve and when the tank is full water will come out of the valve... then release the small lever to close the value.
Please post your results from this suggestion.
Here is a link to the 2016 Jayco towables owner's manual.
I notice from your other forum posts, there was some confusion about the Nautilus water system controls on your camper.
Please take a picture of your values and knobs and post herein if any questions remain, we can reference your photo.

Bill, Thanks, that explains what each lever does, very handy to have. It seems thatci am bypassing my waterheater with the red lever turned to the left, but I at least get water to both H&C faucets and as soon as I turn the red lever up as in the diagram it starts filling the black tank!! On both dry camping and city water. I snapped a pic of the back of the service panel and the line coming out of the tank flush(black) routes right into the hot water tank at the bottom!! I think the previous owner may have mixed these up. The second pic is from the linen closet in the bathroom, not sure what that does

That device is a vacuum breaker check valve.

When we had a 2016 377 we had similar issues with our panel and I figured out that one of the valves was not working and therefore the water did not flow through the proper channels. I had to replace one of the valves and everything went where it was supposed to. I suggest that you try playing with the valves to make sure that they are all working.

That is possible, I think there are lines mixed up as there is no way the black flush hose should dump into the hot water tank!
