poor reception in jay flight

Good evening,
I've searched, but not quite found the answer I'm looking for. I have a 21 Jayco 154bh baja. Like many others, my tv and radio reception is horrible. I have checked connections at the coax plug on the wall. I believe the shark fin antenna is to blame. I am looking for an affordable replacement that will be a more or less plug and play. I do not want to drill holes in the ceiling for an adjustment control, nor do I have 12v power at the antenna for an amplified antenna. Can I run an amplified one without powering the antenna? this unit has the amplifier in the plug on the wall? I've read that there was some antennas in this year range that were defective. How would I know if mine was one of them?

Also, I am wanting to get both TV and radio reception preferably in the same antenna. however, I would consider doing separate antennas if it meant I could achieve my goals in an affordable and effective way. thanks in advance.

I read a post some time ago where the owner found the cable going through the roof into the TV antenna was installed wrong and the connection was bad. He found the problem and fixed it by taking trim off the ceiling to find the mess.

Even one strand of the insulation wire touching the stinger (center copper wire) will degrade the signal. I think you will have to take off the inside trim even if you replace the roof antenna. Removing the inside trim should reveal the connection to the antenna.
Mine hauls in way more signals than I would believe when tested at home so if the antenna is the problem and I would get the same one to replace it if I had to.

Oh no thought they stopped using the Steiner Enterprises fine shark fin antenna in 2020. Well come to think about it they must have had some left over, our 2020 Jay Feather has one mounted right behind the air conditioning unit. Anyway I talked to Jayco they said they knew of no problem so called manufacturing company guess you know the answer there" first they have heard works great in lab." To fix the problem for me Anyway bought a King OmniGo use a piece of schedule 40 PVC mount it to ladder run coax to satellite/cable connection on trailer go inside trailer disconnect bottom coax that loops to power and attach to power for king and let it run back to TV. Last camping trip went from 7 channels to 49.

I used to have the same problem. Reception was iffy, and also season related. So, I bought the "best" antenna, as recommended by others. Reception got better. Then a year later it got worse.

I found an app for my phone that showed the channels that were in my area. Turned out I had none.

Problem solved. I replaced the TV with one that had a DVD attached. Now we simply watch movies.

My son's camper is across the road from ours. His reception is worse. So, he bought a Starlink and now he gets EVERYTHING. Problem solved.
