Q about hub temperatures
The neighbor’s TT dropped a bearing and the spindle was damaged. We cleaned up the scoring with a file and emery cloth. New bearings fit without excessive looseness. He decided to replace all 4 drums and brakes. After getting things back together we pulled it about 70 miles to check things out. The drum on the damaged spindle is consistently warmer than the other 3 by about 10 deg (100 vs 110). We pulled that assembly apart to see if everything looked good and didn’t spot anything amiss. It’s not a dragging brake. We’re concerned the spindle is causing the temperature difference. I’d like your opinions on this.
Thanks in advance.
