Radio question

I have a radio attached to the outside of my trailer and we had good reception. Then the receiver inside my trailer died and now I have no radio stations. Do I have to have a receiver for the radio to work? I don’t know how the wiring works. Any ideas would be welcome

Thank you
Chris

Welcome to the site from SW Michigan!

Sorry to hear that, (think there is a pun in there) Gibby.

I don't have any knowledge of that, but I'm sure someone will jump in and lend a hand.

What is your camper? Maybe someone here has experience with your model that can help.

Total guess here as I've never seen a trailer with two different head units installed, but I would suspect that both head units shared the same radio antenna which is usually installed on the roof of the RV (often a single wire whip antenna).

If this sounds correct, I would pop the inside head unit out, and follow the antenna wire to see how/where it splits. It is possible that there is a small amplifier/splitter that may be require power from the inside HU, or that the antenna wire somehow feeds through the inside HU.

Overall that is a complete guess. but looking at the controls on your outside HU it certainly has an internal radio tuner, so I can only guess that it is no longer getting a signal from the antenna.

Welcome from NY State!

You might check the 12 volt fuse. We have one that's for the radio, antenna booster, and LP/CO detector.
