Refrigerator on Propane

I'm supposed to know this but at my age I can't remember....

Do I have to have my battery power on to run my propane refrigerator?

In other words, does a propane refrigerator require 12-volt power to operate?

I want to start it up to get cold before a trip on Friday morning. I do not have 120 volt power at the storage shed.

If I were at the trailer now, I know I would remember. smile

Yes, the refrigerator control requires 12v power, as does the ignitor.

Should I turn my converter breaker off to run the refrigerator over night to save battery power? I just bought a new battery yesterday and sure don't want to harm it.

No need to turn it off, the fridge doesn't pull that much power on gas. You should be alright, unless someone here chimes in with a different opinion.

A propane RV refrigerator uses very little electrical power. I don't have the exact amperage number, but I have run mine for a week at a time with no detectable drop in my battery voltage.

Mine only pulls .8 amps on propane.
