Replacing a hot water heater

We just bought a 2000 jayco design.
Found out the hot water heater was not winterized correctly. It has a split down the side, water all over.
Has any one replaced a Atwood GC6AA-9E hot water heater?

We replaced our 6 gal Atwood with a tankless right after purchase and 2 years later it went bad so I did some measuring and we now have a 12 gallon Atwood. I had the work done at the dealer for it was over my head but my wife and I LOVE taking a full shower and not running out of hot water. I would measure and go as big as you can. You will not regret it and they are not that much more expensive if you have the room to install it.

Welcome aboard!

I have pulled one out and put the same one back in. Don't recall the model.

It was not hard, the worse part was removing and cleaning all the sealant around the opening.

You will need Butyl tape, your favorite RV sealant (I like OSI Quad), plumbers dope, a couple wrenches.

Just make sure the gas tanks are off and disconnected. Light the stove to burn down any remaining fuel in the line.

For us, being the same unit, we did not have to make any plumbing changes.
