Roof sealant touch up

While on the roof of my X23B over the weekend, I found a couple of spots where the roof sealant developed small holes around the bathroom skylight. I went on Amazon to buy a tube of Dicor and found that they make one for EDPM, and one for TPO. I know my roof is AlphaPly so I went to their website and they recommend something completely different for their roof system. Can someone clear up my confusion? I'm just touching up the sealant, not fixing a hole in the AlphaPly. What should I use? Thanks!

Read carefully. Some manufacturers specify a special caulk if it contacts the skylight material.

My roof is Alpha-ply and I did a complete touch up with Dicor around all roof vents, etc. I carefully cleaned the old caulk surface with mineral spirits [don't get any on the roof] and applied the Dicor caulk to caulk.

Do you happen to know which Dicor you used? There seems to be more than one kind.

Self leveling, in white. I tried not to allow the Dicor to come into contact with the roof because I read somewhere on the Forum that Alpha-ply roofs don't like the petroleum distillates contained in the Dicor, although they dissipate rapidly during the curing process. There were a few places I caulked along the front seal that came into contact with the roof and no ill effects noted. It's been over a year now. This is an example of what some of it looked like before I did the touch up.

Thanks! I was looking on amazon at Dicor that comes in tubes and there is one made for EDPM, and a seperate one for TPO. I was just wondering if the one you used specified a difference? I might try emailing Jayco just to be safe.

12voltman, I would be interested in knowing what you find out from Jayco as to their recommendation.

From what I have read Dicor 501 is supposed to be compatible with EPDM and TPO roofs. I tried double checking on their website but it is down right now.

I just looked at a couple tubes of Dicor that I recently purchased. Both self-leveling (501) and the non-sag (551) say it can be used on "some TPO roofs". What that means, I have no idea. Wish I could be more help.

Alpha ply does make a non sag and a self leveling seam sealer I think the numbers are 10/10 and 10/15

Here is Jayco's reply to my inquiry as to which sealer to use:

"Jayco recommends using the dicor self leveling sealant. Jayco recommends checking your seals every 6 months and reseal the roof every year. For the best results it’s best to remove the old sealant and reseal."

From that response, I think I'm leaning towards using this:
Amazon.com: Dicor 610SASLW1 White Roof Lap Sealant - 10.3 oz. Tube: Automotive

I have also emailed Dicor to make sure it's compatible with Alpha Ply specifically. I'll let you know if they reply!

Just in case anyone is interested. I emailed Dicor and asked them which one of their roof sealants they would recommend for use on Alpha Ply and this is their response:

"It depends on the year. 2012 and newer, I would suggest the Dicor Ultra Sealant Primer and Ultra Sealant. Older, any of our products can be used."
