Rooftop A/C thermostat

I have a non-ducted RVP A/C unit with a knob type thermostat that is acting up. It sticks or something and only kicks the compressor in when you tap on the knob. I am looking to replace it, and was wondering if I can convert it to a wall mount digital thermostat without too much hassle. Any ideas?
